DEA Workshop 2026: Efficiency and Productivity Assessment in Higher Education and Public Services, hosted at Aston University, Birmingham.
The SMART SIP+ Project was presented, highlighting its focus on the intersection of data analytics, environmental sustainability, and efficiency measurement. The discussion demonstrated how advanced methodologies such as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) can generate actionable insights for improving resource efficiency and supporting informed decision-making in complex systems.
The workshop brought together a diverse group of researchers and practitioners, creating a highly engaging environment for methodological exchange and collaboration. Key discussions included:
- Integration of DEA with efficiency assessment of Higher Education DMUs
- Convexity vs. non-convexity comparisons—particularly the session by Prof. Kristiaan H. J. K., which opened up several promising research directions
- Translation of analytical insights into policy and practice, as discussed by Dr. Grammatoula Papaioannou and Dr. Maria Michali
Additional sessions by Prof. Victor Podinovski and Prof. Dimitris Giraleas provided valuable perspectives on the Network DEA approach and the growing role of Generative AI in education.
The workshop served as a valuable platform for strengthening methodological understanding and fostering collaborative engagement within the research community.
